“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women's Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

What is your wellness philosophy?
I have never been a gym enthusiast, the monotony of that routine bores me. However I do alternate between yoga and Pilates. Physical wellness, as we know, is directly linked to mental health and if the mind is not tended to, there are manifestations of physical dis-ease. A reason why I do focus on my mental nurturing a lot more. While I may be a little undisciplined about my physical workout regimen, I keep my mind and soul well nourished and stimulated with my spiritual practices. I have experimented with various meditation techniques over the years to keep my centeredness and balance. Just a few years back I was also introduced to Nichiren Buddhism where the vibration of chanting Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo creates a powerful energy field within and around. Meditation helps me look inward and introspect and chanting helps me with Buddha wisdom for action and polishing my inner core to become a better version of myself.
Your success mantra?
Success is a byproduct of hard work, sincerity and diligence. Wealth and power may be inherited but success is self achieved. It isn’t a one-size-fits-all mantra as each of one of us have our own formula for the same. And what has worked for me apart from serious hard work, is the old school virtue of ‘common sense.’ It is not backed by theoretical reasons or corporate jargon that is the norm with the younger generation but it has always helped simplify the tricky situations that I have been in. Apart from that I believe in honest communication and clear strategizing too.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
There are no shortcuts in life! Each time I have overlooked details thinking they would be in order, I have regretted it.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
As women, we must take great pride in our gender. Womanhood is multi-winged, multi-layered, and multidimensional with each role we play being dynamic and requiring immense strength of character. We have no reason to try and emulate or even compete with men in order to feel empowered. We are empowered in our own uniqueness. We, women are ticking time bombs of potentials that we are often not even aware of. My sincere advice would be to let that potential explode and the force of the momentum propel you forward, in whichever direction you want it to.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
We grew up imbibing so much from our home and parents who gave generously of their time, emotions and material belongings to anyone who seemed to be in need of help. And this stood them in great stead of loyalty and respect across all strata. I have learnt that those in any position of power, must inculcate compassion and generosity. Because it’s only when you give that you prepare to receive. I take great pride in knowing that I am from the same gene pool that helped my parents create immense goodwill despite the societal chasms that existed and continue to exist.
