Hospitality, heritage, and heartfelt service take centre stage at ÀNI Sri Lanka.
Embraced by verdant jungle and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, ÀNI Sri Lanka, an all-inclusive luxury private resort, welcomes guests to its secluded beachfront estate on the island's south coast with a distinctly Sri Lankan sense of hospitality—one that connects them to the destination from the moment they arrive. "We welcome our guests with children from the local village, ceremonial lighting of a traditional oil lamp, and the blowing of the conch shell," shares Dinesh Hewavitharana, general manager, ÀNI Sri Lanka. “It reflects our belief that every arrival is a celebration," he adds.
A Sri Lankan with over two decades of experience across domestic and international hospitality, Dinesh takes immense pride in his country's cultural heritage. And that pride is reflected in ÀNI Sri Lanka, where luxury is shaped not only by personalised service but also by an authentic sense of place.
In conversation with GlobalSpa, he tells us more about…
An Ideal Day at ÀNI Sri Lanka
“An ideal day at ÀNI Sri Lanka begins with one of nature's greatest luxuries – watching the sun rise over the pristine coastline. Guests begin their morning with a leisurely walk along the beach, followed by a wholesome breakfast featuring local delicacies, seasonal fruits and nourishing green herbal congees. One can indulge in a range of activities throughout the day, including yoga, Pilates, a workout in the gym, personalised spa treatments, swimming or an early morning tennis session. Beyond the resort, thoughtfully curated excursions showcase the region's natural beauty and cultural richness. Lunch is often a leisurely affair, followed by afternoons that are reserved for complete relaxation. As the sun begins to set, guests gather over handcrafted cocktails or mocktails, followed by a hearty dinner.”

ÀNI Sri Lanka is Also Pet-Friendly
“Our pet-friendly programme is tailored to every companion's individual needs, from vet-reviewed gourmet meals and grooming to engaging activities, while taking dietary preferences, allergies and medical requirements into account. This ensures that guests can travel with complete peace of mind while creating memorable holidays with every member of the family!”
Why Indian Travellers Feel at Home Here
“Sri Lanka is becoming an increasingly popular choice among Indian travellers, and this comes as no surprise, given the deep cultural and historical ties shared between the countries. While our traditions have evolved uniquely over time, there remains a strong sense of familiarity. The Ramayana, for instance, continues to attract discerning Indian travellers who wish to visit and experience the many sites across Sri Lanka associated with this historic epic.”
“For Indian travellers, ÀNI Sri Lanka is particularly appealing, as it is an all-inclusive, private retreat. Most Indian travellers like to travel in groups, and to cater to that, we have a dedicated team that ensures every detail is tailored to each group's needs, from curated dining and daily spa treatments to cultural and nature excursions. Catering to one group only at a time – whether it is a multi-generational family gathering to mark a milestone, an adult-only group seeking a wellness retreat, or an intimate circle of friends.”

Personalised Wellness Experiences for Each Guest
“Wellness is personal, and every guest arrives with different lifestyles, goals and individual needs, which is why each wellness journey begins with understanding the person before recommending an experience. While some guests may simply wish to relax and rejuvenate, others may be seeking support for better sleep, stress management, headaches, back pain, or longer-term orthopaedic concerns. Guests can also enjoy a selection of Ayurvedic, Thai, Balinese and Swedish therapies, allowing them to choose experiences that best align with their preferences and wellbeing goals.”
A Modern Approach to Authentic Ayurvedic Principles
“Sri Lanka is renowned for its indigenous healing traditions, including Hela Wedakama and Ayurveda. By incorporating authentic healing practices, we want to contribute to preserving these ancient traditions. Ayurveda is founded on personalised understanding of every individual. It begins by assessing a person's unique body type or constitution, traditionally classified as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, recognising that individuals within the same family can have different constitutions. According to Ayurvedic philosophy, wellbeing depends on maintaining the natural balance between these energies. When this balance is disrupted, treatments focus on restoring harmony through natural ingredients, personalised therapies, and mindful dietary practices. We honour these principles while adapting them for today's traveller.”

Wellness Trends Globally and Within the Asia-Pacific Region
“One of the most significant shifts I have observed is the growing demand for personalised wellness experiences tailored to individual needs and lifestyles rather than standardised treatments. At the same time, there is a renewed appreciation for indigenous healing traditions. Destinations are increasingly drawing upon their own cultural wisdom and time-honoured therapeutic practices to create wellness journeys that cannot be replicated elsewhere. In a country like Sri Lanka, with a wellness heritage spanning over 2,500 years, our culinary traditions have also evolved around the healing properties of nature. Food itself becomes an integral part of the wellness journey, celebrating fresh ingredients, local produce, and recipes that nourish both body and mind. I have also noticed a growing preference for nature-led wellness experiences, through meditation in ancient caves, therapeutic treatments beside flowing streams or simply reconnecting with nature.”
Sustainable Practices and Community Initiatives
“While our goal is to deliver the highest standards of global luxury hospitality, we also recognise that we are part of a secluded fishing village with its own traditions, values, and way of life. Building strong relationships with our neighbours is therefore fundamental to how we operate. Through our signature guest experiences, centred around Sri Lanka’s heritage and craftsmanship, we directly support local artisans. Guests have the opportunity to participate in traditional experiences such as cinnamon peeling demonstrations, lace weaving, pottery, and mask painting. Each evening, guests also receive a curated turndown gift inspired by that day's experiences, purchased directly from local artisans, providing them a sustainable source of income. Moreover, through the ÀNI Art Academies programme, we aim to provide free art education to talented young students from the local communities. Throughout the stay, guests also experience authentic performances by local folk dancers, violinists, flautists and children from neighbouring villages.”

“Additionally, as a beachfront resort, we take pride in protecting the natural environment that surrounds us. Our security and landscaping teams work together to maintain the cleanliness of the beach, while regular beach-cleaning initiatives are organised in collaboration with neighbouring resorts. We also support mangrove plantation efforts and help protect turtle nesting sites along the coastline.”
The Philosophy of 'humanity in service'
“Hospitality, above all, is a people-centric industry. Whether you are a guest or a member of our team, we all share the same human emotions and aspirations. Everyone wants to feel acknowledged, valued and genuinely cared for, and I believe these simple human connections are truly at the heart of memorable hospitality.”
“Exceptional guest experiences begin with a happy and fulfilled team. When people feel appreciated and take pride in what they do, that positive energy naturally extends to every interaction with our guests. One of our guiding beliefs is that we never say "goodbye"; instead, we say "see you soon". It reflects the relationships we build with our guests – relationships that go beyond hospitality and often become enduring connections long after their stay has ended.”

Wellness Mantra
I always live in the moment! I believe that whether you are going through extreme happiness or sadness in life, you can always have a fresh start.
The Vision for ÀNI Sri Lanka
“Our vision is to continue creating exceptional experiences for our discerning UHNW guests while strengthening our connection with the local community and preserving Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage. Whether through authentic culinary journeys, meaningful wellness experiences, immersive local excursions or the genuine warmth of our team, we want every stay at ÀNI Sri Lanka to leave guests with memories that last a lifetime. At the same time, we remain committed to ensuring that our growth continues to create lasting opportunities for the communities around us, allowing our guests to experience Sri Lanka in its most authentic and enriching form.”
