Spring hits differently in Lake Tahoe — think snow-capped peaks, quieter trails, and the perfect weather. Here’s how to make the most of it.
In Lake Tahoe, April serves as a transitional month between winter and spring, paving the way for unique experiences, from spring skiing to dinner with a view, as well as an exciting lineup of events that mark the beginning of this seasonal change.
Spring Skiing
With perfect weather conditions combining snow, sun, and fewer crowds, April is an ideal time to get out and ski the areas around Lake Tahoe. Ski the slopes surrounding the Heavenly Mountain Resort or Kirkwood Mountain Resort, which typically have their winter seasonal runs until April, offering many opportunities for skiing with access to multiple trails and viewpoints.
Fireside Après
After a long, tiring day on the slopes, relaxing by the fireside is a must. A variety of restaurants and bars offering firepit gatherings accompanied by delightful food and beverages are available within walking distance of the Heavenly Ski Resort Gondola. McP’s Taphouse, California Burger Company, and Salt Grass Steak House in the Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino are just a few places where you can relax, socialise, drink, and eat by a cosy fire.
Dinner with a View
Apart from the abundance of the outdoors and nature, Lake Tahoe is also known for its continuous celebration of new and innovative culinary experiences. Adding to the impressive flavour stories are incredible scenic views at places such as The Chart House, waterfront seating at Riva Grill, and Lakeside Dining at The Landing Tahoe Resort and Spa.

Lake Tahoe Documentary Film Festival
The Lake Tahoe Documentary Film Festival (LTDFF) is returning from April 17 to 19 at the Margaritaville Resort, following the success of its inaugural festival, which showcased 65 world films and attracted over 400 attendees. This year, the festival will take on a new initiative called the Local Spotlight programme, a dedicated platform for showcasing the work of local documentary filmmakers in the region. Moreover, 70+ films, live events, outdoor adventures, guest filmmakers, movie parties, and more will take over Lake Tahoe during the festival days.
A Night of Comedy with Jerry Seinfeld
For many kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s, ‘Seinfeld’ was an important chapter in their exposure to sitcoms and pop culture. The star of the show, iconic comedian Jerry Seinfeld, is bringing his legendary stand-up to the Tahoe Blue Event Center on April 16 with his signature observational humour.
A Musical Evening with Third Day
Experience the iconic band that shaped Christian music, Third Day, as they reunite for their 30th Anniversary Tour on April 17 at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. For the first time in over a decade, original members of the band Mac Powell, Mark Lee, David Carr, and Tai Anderson will hit the stage together for a limited number of live shows, including the one in Lake Tahoe across the US. Special guest Zach Williams will join the tour, adding his soulful hits to the night.

Earth Day Celebrations
The South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Festival, a volunteer-run, non-profit event, is one of the largest environmental education gatherings in the Lake Tahoe area, offering residents and visitors a chance to celebrate and learn about the environment while committing to care for it. This free, family event features a full lineup of activities, including hands-on learning, stewardship, and collective action from partners around the region, as well as immersive experiences hosted by local organisations and businesses. This year, the festival is taking place on April 18 at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Taholistic Wellness Experience
Edgewood Tahoe is gearing up to host Taholistic Signature Weekend on April 25 and 26, featuring a variety of physical and soulful self-care classes and workshops led by industry experts such as Cristi Christensen, Peter Walters, Denelle Numis, and more. The weekend also offers opportunities to come together as a community with energising all-level flows, sound baths, and myofascial release sessions. Throughout the weekend, you can relax in the beachside sauna, explore the marketplace, indulge in culinary offerings, and connect with fellow attendees.
